MPPE recomenda implantação de cotas raciais nas seleções públicas
05/09/2025 - O Ministério Público de Pernambuco (MPPE), por meio da 1ª Promotoria de Justiça local, recomendou ao prefeito do município de Limoeiro, Orlando Jorge, que promova a implantação de cotas raciais nas seleções públicas futuras, para a população negra, em todos os cargos disponibilizados.
O MPPE reforça ainda na recomendação que sejam envidados esforços a fim de atualizar e aprimorar a legislação municipal para que a matéria seja tratada de forma eficaz, materializando-se tais direitos fundamentais, previstos na Constituição Federal de 1988.
De acordo com a recomendação, a adoção da medida, independentemente de existência e legislação local, objetiva a efetivação imediata de direitos fundamentais, sobretudo face ao princípio da igualdade material e das políticas afirmativas recomendadas pelo estatuto da igualdade racial e pela convenção 169 da Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT).
A recomendação à íntegra, assinada pelo promotor de Justiça Paulo Diego Sales Brito, foi publicada no Diário Oficial do MPPE no dia 29 de agosto de 2025.
